Project Statement: According to experts, the color blue is considered non-threatening. Emotional responses to blue vary by context. For example, blue is often associated with calmness, trust, reduced stress, increased productivity, and peacefulness. Conversely, blue can also be associated with sadness, grief, detachment, and depression.
The Blue Note Project uses blue in peaceful, stable, and calm contexts. Each image in the series is intended to prompt the viewer to take a deep breath, exhale, and explore them abstractly. Take in total, the image series deserves a slow-walk approach.
NOTES:
The final image selection has not yet been made. Since most of the images are abstract, selecting an opening and a closing image is important.
All images are rendered in the primary color, blue. Given the project’s title and intent, creating a consistent ‘look’ while avoiding repetition will be challenging.
Images will be displayed with sufficient spacing between them to offset any differences in blueness.
All images will include an image caption or title.
Next Steps
Image selection with ‘flow’ in mind. Consider a non-abstract, or less abstract, starting and ending image.
Consider using the copy-and-paste settings to give the set a more consistent blue color.
Develop titles and/or captions to help the viewer unfamiliar with abstract photography.
