Night Sky Photography Course

Night sky photography success requires special planning and a specific set of skills. This course will teach you everything you need to know, from conceptualizing the shot and planning the location, day, and time to executing on photo night. Learn specific exposure skills for capturing and editing the files. The course costs $275.

The course is taught by Steve J. Giardini, an experienced college instructor and professional photographer. Maximum Students, Cost, Dates & Times

  • Six students maximum.

  • Tuition: $275 (non-refundable after first class).

  • Next Course

  • Zoom sessions: July 8, 9, 10 & 16, 2026, 5 pm to 6:30 pm PST

  • Field Sessions: July 12 & 13, 2026, 8 pm to midnight PST

  • Alternate field session dates if needed due to weather: Jul 24 & 15, 2026

Expectations, Pre-requisites & Equipment Requirements

  • All levels of experience are welcome.

  • Presentations, editing workflows, and other documents will be provided.

  • Interactive Zoom sessions.

  • Guided step-by-step field instruction.

  • Knowledge & skills set

    • Basic exposure management skills

    • Basic Lightroom editing

  • Required Equipment:

    • A camera with interchangeable lenses

    • A tripod that fits the camera.

  • Physical requirements:

    • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces and carry camera equipment.
